Junior Ranger bonfire night, Friday 28 August
The Junior Ranger bonfire night is on Friday 28 August from 6.30 – 8.30 pm. The bonfire is on the Alphington floodplain, near the Clifton Footbridge. This special event is for financial Junior Rangers but friends are welcome to attend and can join on the night for $2. Please note that for safety reasons, an adult must accompany all children at all times. If the weather is wet or windy, we may have to cancel the event. If necessary, you can call the rangers on 0417 113 458 for a weather check on the day. For all other enquiries, please ring Carina on 9499 7517.
Climate crisis in the spotlight at our next information evening, Tuesday 25 August
DPA members will get a global and local perspective on climate change at our August information evening, on Tuesday 25 August from two guest speakers. Philip Sutton, co-author of Climate Code Red, will talk about the climate emergency and solutions, while Carole Ride from Darebin Climate Action Now and the Climate Emergency Network will speak on local initiatives. The meeting starts at 8 pm, in the parklands environment centre. All welcome.
September Park Care Day
At our next park care day, on Sunday 6 September, we’ll continue work on our Ivanhoe riparian revegetation project. The site is just upstream from the Crossing Stones (or downstream from the Clifton Bridge). Join us for the planting between 1-3 pm, and stay for afternoon tea.
