What's on in Darebin Parklands in February and March 2009

Dreamtime in the Parklands Darebin Council’s Dreamtime in the Parklands is on Saturday 14 February, from 6.30 pm until 10.30 pm, in the parklands’ amphitheatre (enter via Separation Street, Alphington). The event features a spiritual healing trail walk at 7 pm, followed by live music from The Grenadines, Koorie market stalls and Indigenous games, with the PG rated film The Waterhorse starting at dusk.

Clean Up Australia Day Sunday 1 March is Clean Up Australia Day, so come along and help give the parklands a spruce up. The clean up runs from 10 am until noon, and finishes with refreshments for the hardworking volunteers. Meet at the parklands environment centre, at the end of Separation Street, Alphington, and we’ll give you gloves, bags, and directions to a location in the park in need of some TLC.

Darebin Parklands Picnic Races The Darebin Parklands Picnic Races returns for 2009 on Sunday 22 March, featuring favourites like sack races and King and Queen of the Mountain, plus a few new surprises.  If you’d like to get involved in organising the picnic races, or if you can spare an hour on the day to assist with running the games or staffing the membership desk, please drop us a line at info@dpa.org.au.

Darebin Parklands Greeting Cards

The DPA’s new range of greeting cards is now available. Each set of contains 12 cards and envelopes. It includes six with contemporary shots of the park and its wildlife and six with black and white photos from the DPA’s archives. The cards sets are just $12 or three packs for $30. The cards have been produced with support from our sponsors, Miles and Company real estate, Bendigo Bank and Polygranet graphic design. Proceeds from the sales will go toward the DPA’s planned history publication.
