Catch a Carp Day is cancelled

Due to the wet and windy weather today, we have cancelled Catch-a-Carp Day.

We will advise the re-scheduled date as soon as new arrangements are made.

Local election candidates say a few words on the Darebin Parklands

Elections are being held for Darebin and Banyule councils in November 2008 and during their next three year term successful candidates will make some important decisions about Darebin Parklands, including the implementation of the parklands master plan.

 

The DPA has written to all candidates to ask them to submit a 100 word statement outlining their vision for the parklands. Click on this link http://www.dpa.org.au/council_candidates_statement_summary.htm to read the statements.

 

Please note that the DPA does not endorse any candidate; we have compiled this information to help members make their own informed choice when voting. After the election statements from the successful candidates will remain on the website as record of their commitment.

Kids Catch a Carp Day this Sat 22nd Nov

Feel like some inner city fishing?
Please join us for our annual Kids Catch a Carp Day on 22/11/08 and help us remove some of those pesky carp from the Darebin Creek.
This event is a family day and we welcome our Junior Rangers and their friends. We will have a few fishing rods available, but if you have your own fishing gear then please bring this along.

We start registrations at 9:15am and finish around 11:30 to midday for a relaxing BBQ lunch by the Environment Centre.
There will be prizes for the catch of the day, as well as our Junior Ranger prize draw to win a place at the annual camp out in the Darebin Parklands.

The day is for DPA members, but you can join up for as little as $2 on the day.

Get growing at the park care day

The ever-popular plant nursery park care day is on Sunday 16 November, from 1-3 pm, at the parklands’ environment centre. Help plant seeds into tubes, then take a box home to care for. Watch them grow into native grasses, shrubs and trees to be planted at the parklands, and farms and schools along the creek. Don’t worry if you’re no green thumb; our experts will be on hand to help. Photographic exhibition and award ceremony on Sunday 16th November

Entries for the first ever 2008 DPA Photography Competition have closed. The photographs have been sent to two independent professional photographers for judging. The photographs highlight the beauty of the parklands and people that enjoy it.

All DPA members and the community are invited to the exhibition opening and award ceremony on Sunday 16^th November at 3.00pm at the Darebin Environment Centre in the Parklands. Please feel free to pass on the attached invitation to friends and family.
 

The top 13 photographs will be published on the 2009 DPA Calendar that will be available for purchase. If you would like a copy (or few) of the calendar, you should complete the order form below as there will only be a limited number of calendars available.
